Designed by Taha and Ali from the youth council at Deichman Bjørvika, in collaboration with Håkon Skorge for Plastfabrikken / Nordic Ocean Watch.

Plastfabrikken is an initiative by Nordic Ocean Watch where each week, youth gather at Deichman Bjørvika to grind, melt, and mold old plastic waste into new items. The project had recently received a grant to create a new mold, and the library’s youth council collectively decided to produce lace locks—a type of decorative accessory that attaches to shoe laces.
I conducted a design workshop with the youth council alongside Håkon Skorge, during which Taha and Ali were appointed as lead designers. They handled the creative aspects, while Håkon and I managed the practical elements to turn their ideas into reality. Over several workshops, we developed and refined multiple concepts and iterations, culminating in the final design which was milled from aluminum in Håkon’s workshop in Oslo.
