Made with Håkon Skorge for Norwegian Trash and Hold Norge rent.

The Gullklypa award is presented annually by the NGO Hold Norge rent (Keep Norway Clean) to an individual who has demonstrated extraordinary efforts towards a tidy local environment. Previously, the trophy was a spray-painted litter picker, but Hold Norge Rent wanted a perpetual trophy that would truly honor the winner.
Norwegian Trash, a company that uses design to repurpose plastic waste, commissioned me and Håkon Skorge to design the new perpetual trophy. The trophy is crafted from surplus materials from furniture production (100% recycled polystyrene) and brass, designed to be fully recyclable by disassembling it.
The blue recycled plastic is partially translucent, reminiscent of the ocean from which the trash is salvaged. Through the sea-blue plastic you can see the golden litter picker, symbolizing how we can beautify our surroundings by keeping them clean.
The litter picker is organically shaped, inspired by the crab — one of the many creatures that benefit from the environmental enthusiasts’ efforts. This design not only honors the awardees but also serves as a tangible reminder of the impact their work has on life in the ocean.
